JB’S Lunch and Literacy Afterschool Program

is structured to provide students with necessary support in closing the achievement gap in our communities. We provide a safe space for students after school and aim to meet their needs by providing nutritional resources, academic enrichment, & social/emotional support.

Nutritional Resources: Our program provides students with an after school snack daily.

Academic Enrichment: Our program is designed to provide students with ELA, Math, Science, & Financial Literacy instruction that is strategically planned and aligns with the Ohio Learning Standards. Our program is staffed by licensed teachers who provide instruction using the gradual release of responsibility. We understand the importance of modeling expectations for students, working with students to mastery, then releasing them to complete tasks independently. Students also receive homework help upon arrival to the program.

Social/Emotional Support: We understand the needs for our students to be supported socially and emotionally. We use text and plan activities around their social emotional needs. We also provide coaching as needed and model appropriate behaviors that we expect our students to exhibit.
